Blue banquet in Aliso Viejo

What I love about my job planning events for Mission Hospital is that I get lot's of opportunities to use the flowery ideas in my head....they just let me go to town! At this dinner recognizing philanthropists I got to use an idea I've had in my head for a while: moss covered container wrapped in chicken wire (yes it was hard to cut I have a blister to prove it) with chrysanthemums, green vibernum, rununculus (tis the season), blue thistles, succulents, green calla lillies, and rice flower (my favorite filler at the moment).

Welcome to Mora Flora

So I've been apprehensive (for a couple years now) to start a blog about my little floral enterprise........(it's a confidence issue coupled with a dislike for technology in general) but I know I need to! So I'm joining the 21st century and will be posting some of my gigs both in the future and retroactively.

Cheers!

Hayley & Andrew: vintage fleur

Hayley + Andrew {January 2010} San Diego LDS temple, Carlsbad Windmill.
Sahara roses, antique green hydrangea, cymbidium green orchids, wax flower, seeded eucalyptus, and peacock flowers.
What amazingly beautiful bride in that vintage 70's dress!
I love how my boutonniere matched dad's bolo tie (Thank You!) and how mom pinned her corsage on her scarf; I thought it was really clever!

Brooke & Nate: Citrus + stripes

Brooke & Nate {July 2009} married at Newport Beach temple, reception at Richard Nixon Library Yorba Linda. Photos by One Boy ONe Girl
The greatest satisfaction I get is when the Bride LOVES her bouquet. And Brooke gave me the reaciton I wanted. This wedding was so fun to do becuase it was conceptual in its 'vintage Orange County' theme. We used oranges, lemons, kumquats, Dhalias, chocolate cosmos, white tulips, monte casino, yellow and red tea roses, orange aranda orchids, and lemon leaves. All the citrus tied in with the black and white ribbons and patterns.

I don't have a picture of the short arrangements, but we printed dozens of different Vintage Orange county orange grove prints and laminated them and one on each side of all the square vases. We filled those vases with mostly citrus and lemon leaf.

Breck & Steve- something blue

Breck & Steve {June.2009} Married in Mesa, Arizona temple. Reception at the Royal Palms in Phoenix. Photos by Sloan Photographers {my personal favorites}

My Sister-in Law's wedding! Because it was such a busy weekend and in AZ; the flowers were collaboration with another local florist who was great to work with.
We used blue Hydrangea, young green Hydrangea, blue Thistles, white Vendela roses, a few peacock feathers, and pearls.

I cannot take credit for the assembly of these bulbous, blue centerpieces. They had a local florist produce them and I was the designing consultant.
Peacock clips I made for the bridesmaids.
You would think that I would cringe at the sight of my flowers being torn stem from stem, but by the end of the night it's really quite the contrary. I revel in the brevity of my creations; I get an odd sense of comfort from their mortality; I think their impermanance only heightens the enjoyment. So when the night is over and all the photos have been taken and the cake is eaten; have at 'em ladies!
Yes, that's my husband. He cracks me up. We had a lot of fun.
