Jen & Greg-Purple is the new 'Love'

Wedding featured on the Wedding Chicks!
Jen & Greg -8.14.2010. I get real emotional when I think about this union; I grew up with both Jen and Greg and consider them dear dear friends. Jen was helping me do flowers for a wedding last year when she told me she was dating Greg and all I could say was "why didn't I ever think of that?". Cliche's aside; they really are perfect for each other, and I was so happy to be apart of it. A HUGE shout out to my flower helpers: Marsha and Marilyn, and my sis-in-law Lauren Fielding and Sammy who came from AZ to help and hang out! Photos by the talented Kali Leenstra: http://kalileenstraphoto.com/blog/.

Jen wanted purples and peacock feathers so I used quite a range of lavenders, plums, magenta's and different textures:
Sterling Silver roses, chocolate cosmos, cymbidium orchids, Queen Anne's lace, seeded eucalyptus, young hydrangea, lisianthus, veronica, novelty carnations, cushion mums, peacock feathers, and burlap!

Altogether we had a sultry, country backyard wedding vibe. Decedent desserts adorned vintage cake platters, jars, fruit crates and galvanized cake trees. Our talented friend Jan Nielson (who also tailored the brides dress) salvaged these burlap coffee bean sacks for me to create monogrammed table toppers.

The cake through us for a loop because it wasn't what was expected; so I had to cover EVERYTHING with flowers in less than an hour. So it kind of looks like a rose parade float but it turned out looking great with the display. You do what you can with the inevitable wedding curve balls! I thought the blue detail on the cake was really cool!
Centerpieces were groupings of mason jars filled with their respective purple flower with fun textured fillers that I had Marsha and Marilyn work tirelessly on. I created little monogrammed circular labels that went into each centerpiece.
Everything was luscious, from the lighting (done by the brides dad) to the desserts, and of course the loving couple.
